Introduction

Welcome to fitClub and thank you for joining. My name is ______________ (leader name) and I will be leading our fitClub.

Here's what I want you to know about fitClub:

  • fitClub is about learning how to make healthy choices for your body and brain.
  • fitClub is about having fun.
  • fitClub is about playing games while learning about healthy choices.

As I take attendance, I will be handing you a name tag (optional). When your name is called, please share your answers to the following two questions. If you are not ready to answer, you may pass.

  1. What are 3 words that come to mind when I say "fit"? (Accept all reasonable responses)
  2. What excites you the most about being part of fitClub?

Do The Activity

Activity Instructions
  1. Distribute a copy of All About Me survey and a pencil or marker. Be sure to let the kids know that there are no right or wrong answers. The purpose of this survey is to help the leader get to know fitClub kids better. It can also be used to show kids what they have learned by having them complete the survey again during Session 10 of fitClub and comparing their responses.
  2. Leader reads each question aloud. Pause to allow time for kids to write down their responses.
  3. Collect the surveys.
  4. Hand out snacks and water to allow kids to fuel up for fitClub.
  5. Allow time for the kids to eat snacks while taking attendance.
