  •  Recognize the key concepts of fit:
    • fit has four parts: recharge, mood, food, and move.
    • Recharge and mood are influencers of your food and move choices throughout the day.
    • Food choices fuel your body and your brain.
    • Move is physical activity. Moving boosts your body and your brain!

Preparation

  • Talk Time: Kids sit and stretch or stand and march in place a safe distance apart.
  • Activity: Decide upon a previous activity or choose one from the activity section as the bonus activity.
  • Wrap Up: Kids sit in a circle.

Talk Time

Introduction

Q: What does it mean to be fit?
A: Listen for kids' examples of recharge, mood, food, and move choices.

Take a moment to think about what you can tell a family member or friend about what it means to be fit. (Pause to allow time for kids to come up with their answer.)  Now, let's get into small groups of 4 or 5 and sit in a circle and we will pass it on! Some people refer to this game as the "telephone game."

One kid in the group will whisper to the kid on their left (the listener) what they would say to a friend or family member about what it means to be fit. Next, the listener passes the message to the kid on their left. Messages continue around the circle until the last kid announces the message to the entire group. Is the message the same at the end?

Once a message has gone around the circle, start again with another kid sharing their message. Play continues until all group members have shared their fit messages.

Note: If time allows, continue with bonus activity. Alternatively, get ready to hand out certificates.
